Spirit wear fundraising

A fundraiser that runs all season without a volunteer shift. We build the store, print each order as it comes in, ship direct to the family, and remit your share on a set schedule.

Spirit wear fundraising means selling branded school apparel to raise money, and almost everything that decides whether it works is in the mechanics rather than the idea. The version most clubs know involves an order form, a bulk purchase, a garage full of unsold mediums and a distribution day that two people run. The version below removes all four.

The difference is that nothing is bought before it is sold. Each order is produced after a family pays for it and ships to that family directly, so there is no stock, no cash outlay and nothing left over.

What the club actually does

  1. 1. Get written permission from the district

Any use of a school name, logo or mascot belongs to the district. This is the one step that genuinely sits with you, and it is the step that stalls programs when it happens last instead of first.

  2. 2. Send colors, marks and a rough sense of the program

Roster size, season, and what your families are like. That is enough for us to design a range that fits rather than a generic catalog with a logo dropped on it.

  3. 3. Approve the range

The range you sign off is what sells for the season, so this is the point to be particular about it.

  4. 4. Tell your families once, properly

One announcement to the list, and a link somewhere permanent. We run the campaigns after that.

After launch there is no ongoing task. No collecting money, no chasing sizes, no sorting, no handing anything out.

What it raises

Three numbers decide it: how many families see the store, what share of them buy, and what they spend. The percentage is the smallest of the four terms and the one clubs focus on most.

A first season for a single program with forty to sixty families usually lands between two and six hundred dollars. Second seasons are consistently better, because the list is larger and last year's buyers return.

Who it suits, and who it does not

  • Clubs short on volunteers rather than ideas. This is the whole case for it. Per dollar raised it does not beat a direct appeal; per volunteer hour, very little beats it.
  • Programs with an audience wider than the roster. Football, band and anything with alumni. Extended family buys at times you cannot predict, which is what an always-open store captures.
  • Boards that turn over annually. Nothing here depends on a particular person still being there next season.
  • Not a club that needs a specific sum by a specific date. A store produces a stream, not a lump. If you need four thousand dollars in three weeks, run an appeal.

What we handle that clubs forget to ask about

  • Sales tax. We are the seller of record, so collecting and remitting it is ours rather than your treasurer's.
  • Returns and sizing problems. Handled with the family directly. Nothing routes through a volunteer.
  • Promotion. Text and email campaigns to opted-in families, timed to the points in your season when people actually buy.
  • Reporting. Figures your treasurer can reconcile against the bank line, not a number in an email.

Frequently asked questions

How does spirit wear fundraising work?
The club approves a range and a store, families order online, each order is printed after purchase and shipped directly to the buyer, and the club receives an agreed share of what sells. No stock is bought in advance and nothing is distributed by hand.
How much does a spirit wear fundraiser make?
For a single program with forty to sixty families and no prior store, two hundred to six hundred dollars in a first season is typical. Larger programs with an established list regularly clear a thousand or more. Reach matters far more than the percentage.
Does the club pay anything to start?
Nothing to start — no setup fee and no inventory to buy. There is a minimum monthly order value of $1,200 during your season, and an active month below it carries a $150 fee.
Do we need the school's permission?
Yes, and get it in writing before any artwork exists. The school name, logo and mascot belong to the district, and permission is theirs to grant regardless of who prints the shirt.
